Taking a LEAF out of the book
Lets work together
It’s been a busy day on Twitter for Linking Environment And Farming (LEAF) as they held their conference and there were some very impressive figures coming out such as 80% of many salad lines and 88.6% of Leeks are LEAF marque certified. Impressively, overall, over one third of the products in store carry the marque.
This is good news for the environment and having had some experience of working with LEAF it is good to see that the hard work is paying off. It can only be hoped that this continues. All of this good positive news comes at a time when the industry is under a lot of price pressure and some retailers are being criticised for what are quite good marketing ideas. Maybe the best way to look at this is not as a chance to complain about how products are marketed but to work together for the benefit of the consumer and environment and promote some of the healthiest products that sit on supermarket shelves.
You never know if we put our energies into a positive movement forward we might just convince people who know that fruit and veg are good for you, to eat more of them.
